Coaching Approach:

Coaching with art is a very powerful approach that deepens awareness of stuck patterns and transforms understanding in a way that shifts perceptions and leads to change.

My coaching approach is first to create a framework plan for our coaching sessions. I will determine based on your final goals, what would work best to suit our meetings together. Therapeutic art exercises and mindset work are the two main avenues I use to work through our sessions together. Some of what we do together will be talking and uncovering our subconscious framework, and the other part of what we will do will be to work through therapeutic art exercises together. I will likely also include a few sheets of homework after each session to help further your self-care practice and personal development. We will work through various emotional states that come up during our sessions and I will give you the tools to walk through your emotions with less fear and more confidence. Therapeutic art gives us a great avenue to express our thoughts and feelings in a non-threatening way and in an avenue that we can use for the rest of our lives.

Disclaimer about Coaches vs. Therapists: Life coaches often use “therapeutic” tools, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Therapeutic Art, NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming), hypnosis, and other psychological techniques, with clients. The word “therapeutic” means that it benefits the body or mind and increases wellbeing.Using these tools is helpful as a coach, however it is not the same as conducting “therapy” like a Therapist.

A life coach can use therapeutic and psychological tools to help people:

  • Change their thinking
  • Increase their emotional wellbeing
  • Change limited belief systems
  • Reframe past experiences
  • Set and achieve goals
  • Make life changes
  • Increase motivation
  • Learn a new skill
  • Change their self-identity

In general, life coaches are PRESENT AND FUTURE FOCUSED. Life coaches help their clients explore their past only as a means of understanding their current life experience and belief systems. Their primary goal is to help a client look at where they are, where they want to be, and how to get from point A to point B.

A THERAPIST, however, may also help clients with these areas of their life, but they also help their patients:

  • Treat mental illness or clinical anxiety or depression
  • Heal past trauma
  • Cope with traumatic loss
  • Cope with abuse
  • Treat addiction or substance abuse
  • Cope with relationship turmoil or violence

Hiring a life coach, especially a therapeutic art coach, you may find will help you focus, provide direction, challenge you, support you, and motivate you to positive change.
